1. CURE Childhood Cancer
CURE focuses entirely on children’s cancer efforts and funds the work of some of the best and brightest scientists in the field of pediatric cancer. As research efforts continue, they address the critical and urgent needs of patients and families. Not only has there been an alarming decrease in budgets, but less than 4% of federal funding directed toward cancer research goes toward solving children’s cancers. They focus their funding on projects aimed at improving outcomes for the 20% of children not surviving today’s methods of treatment. In addition, they fund projects for developing therapies that will preserve a child’s quality of life after treatment.
2. Rally Foundation
Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research empowers volunteers across the country to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research to find better treatments with fewer long-term side effects and, ultimately, cures. They are philanthropic seed investors in the next great discovery and utilize a dual peer review process that supports research at all stages, from the initial idea to clinical trial. 0.93¢ of every dollar given supports Rally’s mission.
3. Curing Kids Cancer
Just one year after the devastating loss of their nine-year-old son, Killian, to leukemia, Grainne and Clay Owen founded Curing Kids Cancer in 2005 in order to celebrate Killian’s life and to fund research to find a cure for childhood cancer. Curing Kids Cancer focuses on funding some of the world’s most innovative and promising treatments for pediatric cancers. They have raised more than $9 Million for pediatric cancer research and treatment since 2005.
4. The Children’s Foundation
The mission of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation is to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow through the philanthropic support of individual donors, charitable foundations, and corporations. The Children’s Foundation relies on volunteers in the hospitals and in the community. Each year, in-hospital volunteers donate more than 127,000 hours of their time, and community volunteer groups raise millions for Children’s through fundraising activities and events.
5. Children’s Wish Foundation International
Children’s Wish Foundation International is a non-profit wish granting organization founded on the premise that seriously ill children regardless of race, color creed, religion, or economic status, are not able to experience a normal, carefree childhood. For these unfortunate children, Children’s Wish Foundation International provides an experience of a lifetime in the form of a favorite wish. Children’s Wish Foundation International is committed to making a child’s wish come true and will ensure that every project, event, and contribution will be directly connected with our mission.
Who knew there were so many charities supporting children’s cancer? Many of these charities host events all around town, giving the city a way to participate in the community and support a cause. One of our favorite events this year is the Rock For A Reason fundraiser hosted by CLS Medical this Saturday night, MArch 25th.
Share-Your-Photos is thrilled to be the App Sponsor for the event and to help in the fight against childhood cancer! It’s a night of live music, entertainment and seated dinner and cocktails. It’s a premiere event to provide CURE with additional funding for childhood cancer research, education and support. Their Vendor Initiative Program will host this special event to benefit the research team at CURE to stop childhood cancer!
Join them at Embassy Suites in Kennesaw and “Rock For a Reason”! Not into black tie events? Then join the after party from 11pm-2am at Tin Lizzy’s in Kennesaw!
